Tutorial Tuesday: Candy Corn Wreath

September 20, 2011 by Kaysi 33 Comments

I saw this idea on How Does She? last year and have wanted to do it all year!! I finally did it and I’m so glad that I did!
This is what you will need:
-wreath
-candy corn
-glue gun
-electrical tape
-acrylic glaze

This is how I made it:
1) I wrapped electrical tape about the wreath.

Here is what it looks like all black

2) Next I glued the candy corn onto the wreath. I got my candy from the dollar store and it took about 3 bags. I started in the middle and worked my way to the front.

3) I continued gluing the candy corn. I alternated directions of the candy corn every row.

4) I’m hanging this on my front door, so I had to water proof it. I used a can of acrylic glaze and sprayed it onto the candy corn.

5) I sprayed the whole thing. I went over it two or three times.

6) I added some cute Halloween ribbon and hung it on my door.
It’s so much fun!! I love the colors against the black door!

I love this! Wish I could buy candy corn here in Hong Kong. I would totally be making that. I will just have to settle for candy corn paper bunting instead :o)

Can I ask a question? I made one of these last year and it was a disaster! I couldn't get the candy corn to stay – as soon as I lifted the wreath they poured off!

Did you have any problems with that – or any suggestions for me?

Mrs. Pomp, I didn't have any problems with them staying on. I used a lot of glue when I did it. Make sure that your glue is nice and hot, whenever mine is cooler it didn't hold very well. hope this helps

I love this! I've been wanting to make one for so long, but I just can't bare to not eat the candy corn, haha! (I've bought two bags already and both were consumed!)

Love this. The candy would not last in my house long enough unless I do it during nap time or when the kids go to sleep at night 🙂 Hmm – something to think about!

Impressively ideal. The process is very easy but the output looks great and something really awesome. That just surely counts!
