We love to have family movie nights, they are so much fun! We usually have one weekly, but sometimes even more. Now that my kids are getting older we can usually sit and watch the whole thing as a family. This week we got to have a fun movie night with snacks and a craft! We watched Disney Planes and then made some planes out of clothes pins, popsicle sticks and washi tape. And for the snack they had wafer cookies and they got to turn them into planes as well. They had so much fun!
For the stick planes, I just glued some popsicle sticks onto a clothes pin with a glue gun. Then they used the washi tape to turn it into their own characters from the movie.
My kids absolutely loved this! They all got creative and made their planes just how they wanted too. It was so fun to build and then get to eat it :).
After the movie we talked about the lessons that we learned in the movie. Dusty (a crop duster plane) got made fun of for being a crop duster and had to have courage to continue to race even though people were making fun of him. This is something that my boys have had problems with lately, getting made fun of. At school especially. So we talked about having courage to stand up for yourself even when people are making fun of you. The medal says “courage” on it and my younger son is laughing at him.
Disney Planes was a great movie and my kids really love it! Own it on Blu-Ray Combo Pack & Digital HD on November 19th. You can #OwnDisneyPlanes next week, hooray! Perfect time for the holidays.
I would love it if you followed along.
Janet
