We are doing a Descendants 2 theme at our house for Halloween!! I am loving it so much! Well yesterday when I finished up my Uma costume I told my son that his package was here for his costume (it was a blue suit so he could be King Ben) and it was awesome and he was excited about it. Well then I said something like, now I need to figure out what Dad is going to be if you’re going to be Ben, and my other son asked if he was going to be Carlos or Jay. Well my son heard the name Carlos and immediately said, I want to be him!! Not sure why he didn’t say that last week when I asked him what he wanted to be, before I ordered him a suit….. Well being the nice Mom that I am, I said okay and we started researching on how to make a Carlos costume for him (secretly I wanted him to be Carlos all along, he looks like him already). I am so excited about how this costume came together!! I absolutely love it and so does he!
If you are wondering what Carlos looks like, here you go 🙂
I headed to Goodwill this morning and found the perfect things for his costume, I was so excited. I was looking for red pants and a vest that I could use. I was going to try to find a black leather one that I would paint half white but then I found the perfect vest. This vest is seriously so cool, it has pockets all over the place plus it was the right colors, score!! I didn’t have to do anything to it (but we did take off the hood, it zips off, how cool is that?!).
I then picked up a plain white shirt from the store.
Then using black paint and a rag, I painted it to look like Carlos’ shirt.
Now for the pants. I also found these at Goodwill. Just a quick tip, check out the girls section too when looking for colored pants for boys. Although these were in the girls section they look unisex so they were perfect for the costume. I also got a couple jean zippers to add to the pants.
All I did was cut a slit into the pants and then glued it onto the pants with a glue gun. If you wanted to keep the pants (my son said he wouldn’t wear them to school) you could sew on the zippers. I used two zippers, I cut into 2 pieces. As you can see I used one that actually zipped up and the other ones were just put around a hole, they won’t zip up.
And that’s it!! I seriously love this costume! I added a pair of red gloves and then some white hair spray to complete the costume.
Here is a closer look at the vest and shirt.
And here are the pants, the zippers make them look so cool!
And here is the black and white shirt.
Doesn’t my son look awesome as Carlos?! I love how it looks all put together!
Here are all of the costumes put together!
