This year I have been focusing on being more healthy. Since having my baby is April, I have tried to be more healthy, with my eating and with my fitness. Exercising has always come pretty easy for me. I am a runner and I would consider myself athletic. Since May, I have trained for a half marathon, done the Insanity program and now onto another fitness program, T25. Here’s a picture of me after a nice workout, all sweaty and gross. 🙂
With all this exercising you would think that I have mastered being healthy. But I haven’t. I can’t seem to control my eating habits. So for this year, that’s what I’m going to focus on more. I have already cut candy and ice cream out of my diet and my meals are relatively healthy. But my snacking….. it’s bad. When I’m having a bad day, when the kids are fighting non stop or I get bored (which happens a lot) I like to snack. Sometimes it’s healthy, sometimes is a pack of cookies and milk. Having healthy snacks in my pantry are the key to getting me to get more healthy. I’m not going to be able to stop the snacking altogether (tried that, failed miserably) but if I have something healthy to eat then chances of eating something healthy is better.
I love granola bars and Kashi just came out with some new bars. Crunchy Granola and Seed in two flavors, chocolate chip chia and honey oat flax.
I got to sample these and they tasted great! What I like about them is that they have a great flavor but it’s a big enough snack that I could eat this in between meals and not need more. They have 3g of fiber in them, 320mg of ALA omega 3’s, and 23-25g whole grains. They also have a #progressiveblend of flax, chia seeds and qunioa to get them a unique and yummy flavor.
I’m also trying to have my kids eat more healthy too. I still let them eat candy and cookies but not all the time. Even if I replace two to three snacks with a healthy one that can make a drastic change in their healthy habits. My little girl loved these and she asks for one whenever I have one.
How do you stay healthy? What is your favorite healthy snack?

qw have found that if we should not be eating it –do not buy it do not have it in the house. no access until the good stuff became the habit and we retrained ourselves. as a matter of fact the young people reared with this are now in their own homes and continue to practice this.
