Today is our 10 year anniversary!!! To celebrate we made a family time capsule!

In these past 10 years, my husband and I have had quite the adventures! 5 kids, 4 cities, 4 states, 6 homes, 12 jobs, and countless memories together. It’s hard to believe that I have been married for 10 years. It’s crazy to me that I am old enough to be married for 10 years….
The 10 year anniversary is the year of the tin. I had no clue what I do for him. Tin…. seems a little boring to me. But then I came up with a perfect idea.
This past year was my parent’s 50th anniversary. On their 25th anniversary they made a time capsule and everyone wrote a little note and then put it away. When we celebrated their 50th they opened up the capsule and everyone got to read their notes. It was so great, especially the ones that were in high school at the time, the girls just talked about boys.
So I’m going to start a tradition for our little family. Every 10th anniversary, we are going to make a capsule. And then we can open it up 10 years later. But I’m going to keep them all and when we hit 50 years we can open them all again.
Here is how I made it:
I took a tin can and decorated it with vinyl. I got the tin can on polka dot vinyl but I’m sure you can get one at a hardware store.
I put some polka dot vinyl on it and then decorated it with daisies, vinyl and buttons. I used the colors of my wedding.
I had everyone fill out a questionnaire and then on the back had them trace their hands. The questions on the questionnaire were:
Name
Age
Favorite Color
Favorite activity
What are things that you like right now?
What is something big that has happened to you this past year?
What is happening in your life right now? I took a picture of everyone this week and wrote on the back, describing them or the picture. I also put in a picture of our wedding and will add another picture of my husband and I on our anniversary.

I put them all in and closed it up. You could easily put in their favorite toys or something that they like too.
I would love it if you followed along.
What a fabulous idea! We were married in the San Diego Temple too 🙂 That's a lot of moving and transitions for 10 years. Happy anniversary!
Happy anniversary! I love that wedding picture, what an amazing building. Maybe I will do a time capsule on my tenth. Congratulations!!!
Happy Anniversary. : )
Happy Anniversary!
Wish you to be forever happy together!
big hugs
What a lucky, lucky man to have such a thoughtful wife. This is a gift that can't be bought at the store or ordered through the mai. This tooke time. Something that is hard to find at times. Kudos to you.
Such a lovely idea … big congratulations on your anniversary, Alice @ Mums Make Lists
Wow this is so great. We celebrated our 5th this year and what a great way to remember it. We did one of these as kids in the year 2000 and it was so fun to open it years later. Thanks for the idea!
