Textured Tissue Paper Pom Poms

January 23, 2013 by Kaysi 4 Comments

I love the look of the tissue paper pom poms, but I wanted to do things a little differently and give the tissue paper a little texture, I did this using my Cuttlebug.

Before I get to the pom poms, I wanted to let you know about these awesome embossing folders from Anna Griffin.  They are exclusively made for Cricut and the Cuttlebug.  Aren’t the designs so pretty and fun?!

This is how I made it:
Using the Rosa embossing folder, I embossed tissue paper.  I folded up the tissue paper until it fit into the folder.

I placed the tissue paper inside of the folder and then placed the embossing folder in between the two plastic plates.  Then I put it through my Cuttlebug.

It comes out with a fun design, I love it!!  To make the pom poms, I placed 8 sheets of tissue paper on top of each other.  I learned how to make these from this tutorial.

I then started to fold the tissue paper.  I folded it about 1/2 to 1 inch on the front, then flipped it around and folded to the back side.  Like making a fan with a  paper (you know we all did that in grade school).

Here it is all folded up.

I wrapped a piece of wire around the center of the tissue paper.

Then I cut the edges to make a point.

Next I fanned out the tissue paper and then took the top layer and pulled it up.

I continued to do that until all of the layers were separated.

I made a loop with the wire and then used some thread to hang it from the ceiling.

I just love when you look closely you can see the pretty flowery design on it.

I’m pretty sure that whenever I give a present in a bag with tissue paper, the tissue paper is going to have some kind of design on it thanks to my Cuttlebug and these fun embossing folders.

I would love it if you followed along.
