Neighbor or Teacher Christmas Gift Idea: Cookies for Santa Plate and Cookies

November 29, 2011 by Kaysi 10 Comments

Did you know that December is this week?? Before I know it, Christmas is going to be here! Times really does fly! This year for my neighbor gift, I decided to make something that they could turn into a family activity. I saw this post and thought that it would be a good idea for cookies for Santa. Then I thought that it would be so cute to give them the cookies, a plate to put the cookies onto and then a mug for the milk for Santa.

This is how I made the plates.
1) I got some plates and mugs. I got all of these at the dollar store!!

2) I used my Silhouette to cut out the vinyl. I used Expressions Vinyl’s outdoor series to make the plate. You can wash the plates because the vinyl is waterproof. I personally would hand wash them, but I’ve heard that it does well on the top rack of the dishwasher! I used the colors: black, yellow, white, lime tree-green, and orange.
Here is Santa:

A snowman

And a penguin.

3) I next I put the vinyl onto the mug.

Now for the Cookies for Santa. These usually go into a jar, but I thought it would be fun to put it into a mug.
This is what you will need for it:
1 1/3 cup all purpose flour, spooned into measuring cup & leveled

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup cooking oats

3/4 cup m&ms

3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup white sugar
1/3 – 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Add the ingredients into the mug in that order. Isn’t my little boy so cute in the background 🙂

I didn’t realize that my mug was going to be too small…. so I filled it and will have to give them rest of the dry ingredients. Hopefully it won’t look too tacky…..

I put saran wrap over the mug and then put some fabric on the top. Then I attached the directions on how to make the cookies:
Preheat over to 350 degrees. Stir dry ingredients in a large bowl and add:
1/2 cup butter, (almost melted)
1 slightly beaten egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
Combine thoroughly. Roll into 1 1/2 inch balls. Bake for 10 minutes

I hope that Santa will like these cookies!!

Those plates are the cutest. They look like something you would pay $20 for at PB!! Your neighbours will really appreciate this gift – made from the heart!
