I love candy. I love sugar. I especially love caramel. Right behind chocolate, it’s my favorite kind of candy. Chocolate and caramel are my absolute favorite! I really do love sugar, but I don’t love how it makes me feel after I have eaten too much of it. During the last few months of my pregnancy, I decided to give up all “unnecessary sugar”, like candy, baked goods, ice cream. During my little fast from sugar, I would have loved to have these:
They come in some different varieties. The original caramel, caramel cinnamon, caramel coffee and caramel apple. I got to try out all of them. I was surprised by how they tasted. I really couldn’t tell that they were sugar free. They tasted sweet and good to me and didn’t leave a horrible after taste in my mouth (that is the worse thing about the fake sugar or sugar free stuff).
These are great if you’re trying to cut back on sugar. But they are especially great if you are diabetic. You can enjoy the sweetness of them without the spike in your blood sugar. My dad is here to help out with the baby and he is diabetic, so I had him try them out and tell me what he thought of the taste. He also took his blood sugar before and after eating them.
He loved the Caramel Cinnamon one and had several of them. After eating them, his blood sugar didn’t go way up. He was happy that he could get a sweet treat without having the consequences of sugar.
Even those these are sugar free, they are not calorie free (about 8 calories per candy). They are perfect candies to have when you need something a little sweet but they don’t break your diet. I think that I’m going to go pop a caramel apple in my mouth right now :).
