Woodland Animal Pillows Bear and Moose {Wood Texture Vinyl}
Woodland animal pillows are so much fun and perfect for rustic decor! They are so much fun and perfect for the holidays or for whenever, especially if you live in the woods or in a cabin. They are also nice for and manly for a bedroom. Anyways, these pillows are great and easy to make and would go great with lots of things!!
Here is a quick video to show you the process of how to make them:
This is how I made them:
I used a yard of buffalo plaid flannel fabric and then a 1/2 yard of canvas fabric and I also used some black heat transfer vinyl and this awesome and new wood texture vinyl (this one is #5).
The first thing I did was cut the canvas to be 13″ by 13″ inches. Then using my Silhouette CAMEO, I cut out the design for the pillow. Make sure you place the shiny/plastic side down on the mat and then cut the image mirrored. You can get those designs here:
I then weeded the vinyl, leaving the fun design :).
I put the design onto the canvas and then ironed it onto it. Use the cotton setting and use pressure when ironing it on. Then I peeled off the plastic and flipped the canvas over and ironed it on the back side. When I ironed on the moose design, I had to use multi use paper because I had to put the vinyl on one at a time because the words were close to the moose and multi use paper is so you don’t directly iron onto the heat transfer vinyl.
Once the design was ironed onto the canvas, I then cut out a 18 x 18 inch piece of the buffalo plaid fabric.
I centered the canvas onto the buffalo plaid and then sewed it onto the fabric. I let the frayed edge because I thought that it added to the pillow and gave it a more rustic look.
Now to sew the pillow envelope. The front of the pillow is 18 x 18 inches, so I cut two pieces of fabric for the back. Each piece was 12 x 18 inches, they overlap so you can put a pillow inside but you don’t have to worry about a zipper.
I hemmed one side of the back pieces and then pinned them down onto the front of the front piece. Then I sewed all four sides.
Once I sewed all the sides, I flipped it right side out.
Then I added a pillow into the cover and that’s it!! I love how it turned out!
It goes perfectly with my brown couch :).
Here is the moose design, it’s fun too!
Here is a close up of the wood texture vinyl, it’s it so cool!! They have 6 different colors of it!
Just for fun, here is the cute set up I have on the side table next to my couch.
And here they are both together.
