Fall is in the air and it is finally cool enough to turn on the oven and bake! I enjoy baking, especially when it fills my house with a sweet smell, like apple and cinnamon. Right now it is apple season and I love it! I love that there are several different kinds of apples in the stores right now and they are inexpensive. Since I now live in the apple state, I’d better like them :). I also love to pair apples with cinnamon, they just taste amazing together.
I love all things with apples. Apples, apple sauce, apple juice. I love it all. So do my kids, they are always asking for it. I know that you can use both apple sauce and apple juice in baking, so I thought that I would give it a try. And I was so amazed by how good it tasted in this bundt cake. I just loved it. I found a recipe here and then made it my own. Instead of caramel, I decided to make a super yummy cinnamon cream syrup to go over it. And then I topped it with some fall M&M’s. The candy apple M&M’s went perfectly with it and just gave it the #FlavorOfFall.
I got the ingredients at Walmart. I got the Mott’s apple sauce in the canned fruit aisle, the Mott’s apple juice with the other juices and the fall M&M’s in the Halloween section. The candy apple flavor is exclusively at Walmart (and they are delicious!).
This is what you’ll need for the cake:
1 box white or yellow cake mix (Yes I know that the box says lemon. I did not use lemon cake, I used a white cake mix instead).
1 cup Mott’s apple sauce
1 cup Mott’s apple Juice
2 large eggs
2 apples, peeled and diced
2 TBSP oil
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp vanilla
1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2) Mix all ingredients except for the eggs and apples in a mixer.
3) Add the eggs and apples and mix until smooth.
4) Spray cake pan with cooking spray and coat with flour. Pour batter into pan evenly.
For the cinnamon cream syrup you will need:
3/4 tsp cinnamon
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup corn syrup
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1) Mix all the ingredients except milk in a saucepan and bring to a boil for 2 minutes. Stir constantly.
2) Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes and then add milk and stir.
I let it sit out to cool before putting it onto the cake.
Once the cake was done, I let it cool and then I added the cinnamon cream syrup and the candy apple and candy corn M&M’s to the top of it.
And that’s it! Very easy to make and very yummy to eat!
Going with the apple theme, I used the candy apple M&M’s and put them into some fun candy pouches.
The cake was a huge hit. Everyone in the family loved it! I’m excited to make it again when we have guests over.
