Back To School Kindergarten Shirt {Dinosaur Shirt}
Back to school is almost here (or here for a lot of people) and lot of kids are starting kindergarten and starting school for the very first time. I had a friend ask me to make her son a shirt to wear on the first day of kindergarten because it is a super special day for him, it’s the first day or school and his birthday! It was fun making him a fun kindergarten shirt with a dinosaur and the number 6!
This is how I made the kindergarten shirt
Using stencil vinyl I cut out the design with my Silhouette CAMEO. Then I removed the image/words to make a stencil. In the picture I used regular vinyl because I ran out of stencil vinyl, but it works just as good as stencil vinyl. As you will see, the stencil vinyl is see through and the regular vinyl isn’t. Also you can easily use heat transfer vinyl for the shirt too. Using grid transfer tape, I put the vinyl onto a blank shirt. Make sure that you have something inside the shirt because the paint will go through. You can get the cut file here:
Using a black fabric paint and a stencil foam brush, I painted the letters onto the shirt. You will want to use the instructions on the paint.
Once the words were completely dry, I used a green fabric paint and painted the dinosaur. For the dinosaur I used the stencil vinyl because it was easier to make sure the image is in the right spot because it is see through.
Here is the front of the shirt :).
Now for the back, she wanted his age and then his last name on it. I did it the same way as the front.
Then for a little added touch, I added his class on the sleeve and then his name on the other sleeve.
And that’s it!! It’s so much fun and looks so good!
