Easy Family Christmas Pajamas to Make
Ever since I got married and started a family I loved the idea of starting new traditions with my new family. One that I always wanted to do was opening one present on Christmas Eve. So when we started our family, we opened a gift on Christmas Eve and that present was pajamas to wear. So for the past 20 years, we have given our kids pajamas. Some of them I just bought, some of them I made. A lot of times I made them because I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted in the stores. Or I was too cheap to pay the prices in stores. Here are all of the different pajamas I have made through out the years.
Each one of these Christmas pajamas will have a link to a detailed tutorial on how I made them. Most of them are made with my Sihouette CAMEO and heat transfer vinyl.
It’s always fun to start with the older ones and see how I have progressed as the years went on. Some year they were Christmas themed and some years they were just pajamas.
Let’s get started!
2011: Christmas pjs with homemade pajama pants
These Christmas pajamas were fun to make for my whole family. This year we didn’t have a ton of money, so I had to make everything from scratch. I found some fleece blankets with a fun design and used them to make the pajama pants and then I used the design from the pants to make the shirts. They turned out pretty good!
2015: Minecraft pjs
This year my boys were obsessed with Minecraft so I made all of my boys Minecraft pjs. I was able to buy green pajama pants but I couldn’t find anything with Minecraft. It was a pretty new game and it hadn’t hit the stores yet. I wanted my boys to match but I wanted each one to be a little different, so I used different colors of vinyl and paint.
2015: Minecraft Christmas Pajamas
That same year I made up with Minecraft pjs for my boys to wear to school on pajama day. That was back when I was a fun mom and had energy ;). My kids didn’t know that I had already made them pajamas for Christmas Eve so one evening I had them make them with me. I found some shirts from the dollar store and luckily all of the boys had red pajama pants from past years.
2017: Pajama Shirts
This year I realized that finding pajama pants was easier than finding a pajama set, especially for my boys. I found pajama pants that my kids liked and then made a shirt that matched it. That year I went with emojis, Mario and football.
2018: Cookie Tester
This year I did a similar thing, I found pajama pants and then made up some shirts to match. I found that was the easiest way to make Christmas pajamas- buy the pants, make the shirts. I made several different design this year: Wyoming Cowboys, Denver Broncos, Golden State Warriors, Fortnite and these official cookie tester shirt. I had fun making them this year.
2020: Matching Penguin Pajamas
This year was the year I decided that I wanted to match on Christmas morning. Some of my kids didn’t love the idea of wearing matching Christmas pajamas but they all did it :). We love penguins in our house because my mom loves them, so making them with a penguin just made sense.
2022: Most Likely To Pajamas
This year I had fun making everyone their own “most likely to…” saying. I even made up one for my mom and the dog. These were a lot of fun to make! I like that we can continue to wear these shirts all season long because they are just regular t-shirts.
2023: AI Generated Christmas Pictures
This year I did something a little different. I still did the same idea as making a shirt and then buying the pajama pants but this time instead of using heat transfer vinyl, I used DTF transfers with AI pictures. They turned out so good and I can’t wait to give them to the kids this year :).
